Police beat an unarmed and surrendered protester in Oakland, then target the cameraman that caught them.
Just because our tents have been dismantled and we were forced to abandon the camp, this isn’t the end of Occupy Denver, contrary to belief.
San Francisco, New York, Boston, Seattle, and many more occupations have faced similar situations have been through this and we have regrouped. I implore you, to not lose hope.
To no be derailed.
And to not fear what has happened. This was bound to happen to our Occupation eventually. It will make our numbers stronger and we will be back again, just at a different location.
But we did good, Denver, we were peaceful and we showed not only America what Occupy Denver & Occupy Together is capable of, but the world. So please, stay tuned, we will keep you updated, because we will stay here with Occupy Wall Street.
While hundreds of police officers planned to swarm peaceful assemblies in Denver and New York, lawyers for #OccupyDallas filed an injunction with the federal court system on Wednesday, arguing for their right to protest, without a permit, in a city park.
As of this morning, #OccupyDallas is still one of the few occupations that has not seen a single arrest made. However, city officials have threatened to break up the demonstration, because the group does not have a million-dollar insurance policy covering the event. Without such insurance, it is impossible to receive an event permit from the city.
Protesters argue that the million dollar insurance rule is for events which draw crowds of 2500+, and that the the city’s actions would infringe on the First Amendment rights of the ~200 people gathered in Dallas’ Pioneer Plaza.
You have the right to assembly- if you have the cash to pay for it.
Remember, lots of photos being taken out here, be professional.
This is what democracy looks like! Over 100 police sent in to break up a peaceful assembly. Occupy Denver. Occupy Wall Street. Occupy The World.
dismantling began at 3am. peaceful thus far, on both sides. but shame on you, hickenlooper. shame on you.
~12 were apparently arrested close to 3am, with the majority of the 1000+ crowd having dissipated. They plan to re-congregate at a yet-to-be-determined location at 3pm and 7pm tonight.
